Du Chinese
My notes
Same inline lookup and audio features as Free Chinese Reading Practice, and the content library is well-graded. The ability to slow the audio down and follow along makes it a realistic bridge between controlled study and native-speed material. Worth paying for if you're at the upper HSK levels and need graded content that doesn't feel patronising.
Du Chinese feels like it was built by people who understand what upper-level learners actually need. The grading is accurate, the content is interesting enough to read without forcing yourself through it, and the audio quality is good. I used the slowed audio specifically for passages where the speaker was running syllables together — it revealed pronunciations I'd been approximating incorrectly. The content library is extensive enough that you won't run out of material at HSK4–5 level, and it's worth paying for if you're serious about building reading fluency.
