Chorusing
My notes
Repeating sentences from clips — either ones you make yourself or from other learners — builds the muscle memory for getting sentences out naturally rather than word by word. I'd underestimated how different sentence-level practice feels compared to word-level practice until I started doing this consistently. The tool is flexible enough to use for shadowing too.
Chorusing — repeating sentences immediately after hearing them — is physically different from reading grammar explanations or drilling vocabulary. My mouth learned to produce structures that my conscious mind hadn't fully internalised yet, and over time that muscle memory started preceding active recall. I made my own clips from content I was already using for reading practice, which meant the sentences I was chorusing were ones I had semantic context for rather than randomly selected phrases. If you've only ever practised speaking by producing words one at a time, the shift to sentence-level practice will feel immediately different.
