Sentence correction, native-context example sentences, essay feedback, quiz generation — I used AI across every skill category, not just one. The key is treating it as a responsive tutor rather than a search engine: ask it to quiz you, correct you, or explain why a sentence sounds unnatural.
The way I used AI most effectively was as a responsive tutor: I'd write sentences in Chinese and ask for correction with explanation, generate HSK5-level example sentences for vocabulary I was trying to consolidate, or request a short quiz on a grammar pattern I'd just covered. The key distinction from using it as a search engine is treating it as interactive — ask it to challenge you, not just explain to you. This approach spread across every skill area rather than being limited to one, and the immediacy of the feedback loop was something no textbook could replicate.
